Volunteer drivers will make up the bulk of your transportation service’s volunteers. Some volunteers will be very active, and drive several days a week. Volunteers most commonly drive one day a week. Some, however, are only available once a month or so. All of these volunteers will contribute to your success, enhance your name recognition in the community, and may introduce other resources like board members, donors, and other partners. They are all helpful, and all worth recruiting.
Most of your volunteers will be drivers, but that role isn’t right for everyone. Other tasks that volunteers can take on include-
Regular Office Tasks– assiting with phone coverage and rides coordination, assisting with recruiting volunteers, data entry and filing tasks, monthly tasks like sending birthday cards
Occassional Office Tasks– helping with mailings, helping with events
Specialized Tasks– training sessions for volunteers, car maintenance, fundraising help, marketing help
